A timeline for Star Wars IV: A new hope3 min read
To celebrate the release of Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, the second timeline we have created using Plotist is for the movie that started it all. Our first was for Robert’s Rebellion, of Game of Thrones. If you are a hardcore fan of Game of Thrones, check it out!
The original trilogy of Star Wars is, in our opinion, one of the greatest movie series of all times. The first movie, released in 1977, was not only impressive in terms of special effects and storytelling, but defined what sci-fi would be for many decades after. And after watching the movie again in order to prepare the timeline, we can only express our amazement at how fresh it still feels. The special effects are a bit old, perhaps, even on the 1997 special edition, but the story, the photography, the rhythm; almost everything stands the passage of time.
The timeline omits a few things – it was very difficult to capture everything going on in the movie! For example, the Battle of Yavin was more complicated than it is shown on the timeline. We could probably create a timeline with this scene alone, considering all the pilots involved! The same is true of the rescue of Princess Leia from the Death Star.
Let us know in the comments if there is anything you are missing from the timeline or if there is another moment you would like us to capture. We will be working on the other two movies of the original trilogy but we’ll happily modify this timeline to include important details we missed.
Special thanks to Wookiepedia for helping us filling up some of the details.
